Culture Of Digital Elegance is an alternative rock band from Athens, Greece, who has released their second full-length album, ‘No Excuses’, which features 10 vibrant songs.

The C.O.D.E rock band was formed in 2008 and has since released a debut album and multiple singles, four of which are featured on the new album. The band’s early sound is known to be more electronic rock, but with the release of “No Excuses”, you’ll hear more acoustic drums and natural bass. You can tell that musicians have a certain level of expertise, because it’s a very professional-sounding album with songs that have a solid bass line, creative drum parts, guitar riffs and leads, and well-thought-out, wonderfully delivered vocals by the frontwoman Vicky.

The band members of Culture Of Digital Elegance include the vocalist and lyricist Vicky Fysika, Yiannis Katsaros (guitars, vocals, lyrics), Miltos Schimatariotis responsible for synthesizers, and Elias Goulas on drums. In this album they also collaborated with other great musicians, such as Raphael Weinroth-Browne playing cello on the track “Begin”, and bass played by Chris Kollias (Songs: Sinner Art, Begin, Perfect Toy, Change, Stay Away, Prisoner), Byron Tsourapis (Songs: Words, City Polluted), and Kyriakos Iglesis playing on “Stain” and “No Excuses”.

“Sinner Art”, “Change”, and “Stay Alway” are among three favorite songs from this album hand-picked by RED Rock Magazine’s staff, with “Stay Alway” added to our Top 10 playlist. We enjoyed the way the song progressed and the overall atmosphere it creates – something you’d hear at the finale of a mystery or drama film. Excelent work.

“No Excuses” is an album about overcoming any numbness and any inactivity caused by these incomprehensible times that we all live in with social issues, the fragile relationship between the artists and their art. The angel on the album cover appears tired and inactive, shortly before deciding to open its wings and fly away.

5 Questions with Vicky Fysika - CODE - RED Rock MagazinePhoto: Vicky Fysika

What’s the weirdest dream you ever had?

Vicky: “That I was dreaming within my dream and narrating what was happening in the dream when I was awake in the dream, something like the Inception movie.”

What always sounds like a good idea at the time but rarely is?

Vicky: “Going out with friends, because of covid.”

Who is the most humble person (the coolest person in the room) in C.O.D.E.?

Vicky: “Me of course :D. What no? :P”

If you could put your brain in a robot and live indefinitely, would you? Why or why not?

Vicky: “We come into this world to make a small circle and try to fit everything into it, and that is the “beauty” of life I guess. But if we could put our hearts together with our minds, our emotions, and our loved ones could do the same, then why not? I could help as many people as possible and maybe make some of my dreams come true that I would not have had in my human life.”

What are five things you can’t live without?

Vicky:
1. A delicious spaghetti dish
2. To enjoy a beer after a hard day
3. The inspiration that keeps me alive
4. The people closest to me, that I could not do without them
5. Sharing love
